David Weir wins February player award

Rangers captain David Weir is the Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month for February.

The 39-year-old defender turned in a sequence of fine performances last month as Rangers conceded just one league goal.

"Whatever awards he receives he deserves," said manager Walter Smith.

"Davie brings a great deal to the club, and I know he'll hate me saying this, but he comes as close to a perfect professional as you can get."

Weir was Smith's first signing when the manager returned for his second spell at Ibrox in in January 2007, arriving from Everton on loan before securing a permanent contract for the following season.

His remarkable durability and reliability was then rewarded with a further one-year deal, finishing this summer.

The former Falkirk and Hearts player assumed the captaincy at the tail end of last season, going on to lift the championship and Scottish Cup.

He has shown no signs of slowing up this term, having been a near ever-present at the heart of the Rangers defence.

Your right a property developer who has no ties to rangers and isnt even a supporter ffs, quick fix isnt what we need or some guy throwing money around, a good investment in the squad but not to much and bring the debt down until its totally gone, i say let the ayrshireman stay in charge he hasnt failed us yet, i remmember going to ibrox as a boy with only 16,000 at the games and now its full and all thanks to Sir Murray and also the glory hunters, like rino i smell shite in the air.
